Description[]
Ludd Blaster is a member of the Lovelies, so like all of them, he wears a white mask with a Heart on it that obscures his entire face. He has long shoulder-length black hair, a blue bandana, and a leather belt with a golden buckle. He carries an assault rifle on his person at all times, and shoots Beltboy in the knee, or on the other characters routes, in the eye, this injury in particular ends up killing Benny.
He is shown to have a hostile personality, as he responds to Biggie Cummings, a fellow Lovely complaining about how hungry is with a harsh "Oh can it tubby." However, he does have a good relationship with Richie Headsman, suggesting that Biggie Cummings is possibly unfamiliar with Ludd while Richie isn't.
Later in Area 4, he is fought at a campsite alongside Biggie Cummings and Richie Headsman, or if the player is on the Rodriguez Route, he is fought in Shiver City, alongside the Snow Cannon they came to destroy.
Strategy (Benny, Liam, and Clyde Routes)[]
- Benny Route: Benny might be the "Medium" of their fight, as by the time you've reached the Lovely Camp that Biggie, Ludd, and Richie are in, you will probably have the move Trim the Hedges, which will become more useful the less targets there are, so you shouldn't rush to use it. Instead, you should focus on getting rid of Ludd Blaster as quickly as possible, as he deals the most damage out of all three of the Lovely Trio, but the other two Lovelies are also respectably strong enough to be dangerous, so you should also make sure that Clyde's TP gauge is full if you have him, as he has 2 decent crowd control moves with him.
- Liam Route: As with every other opponent in the game on Lank's route, you shouldn't have that much trouble, even if you somehow don't have the move Persevere, as you have a cheap area of effect move and the ability to heal and buff yourself (and Benny, if you have him), but you could be off on a rough start if you don't use Lanks Persevere and Benny's Take Cover on the first turn.
- Clyde Route: Clyde's battle with the Heart Squad 1, like some of his battles, can be more difficult than the other routes, provided that you don't know what you're doing, you should most definitely sell most of your stuff for lots of healing items (Cocola Colas aren't that much of a help, as you will lose Benny if you haven't already killed his joy mutant form, after the battle with these boys) and equip the Dumbass Horns for their defense increase, if you have them, make sure to use up any firebombs if you have them as they will help a lot.
Strategy (Rodriguez Route)[]
- This fight is quite possibly the hardest fight on the route if you don't know what you're doing, besides the fight at the mountains with the Connect 4 Lovelies. On the third turn, the 3 will each take joy, recovering 1,000 HP and giving themselves the Joyed status, allowing them to use their most dangerous moves (The Ludd Blaster, Big Slice, and Stumble.) It doesn't help that the Snow Cannon is constantly battering your team and can even freeze party members, should you be unlucky enough. Despite this, you do not want to target the Snow Cannon, as it will automatically get destroyed when the trio is defeated, making it a waste of turns and SP/TP.
- If you are at the appropriate level for the fight, this fight shouldn't be too difficult. Beltboy's 1800 No Scope and Cyclops' Armageddon make quick work of the trio, especially when under the influence of alcohol. If one opts to use Yogurt during the fight, his Machine Gun Fist is a great move for consistent DPS if you do not trust his Paint the Canvas, due to it targeting 2 random opponents (potentially targeting the Snow Cannon, effectively wasting a turn and 60 SP.) You can also use his Kickocalypse or Spinning Sweep for potential fallen/stun, which will help greatly during the fight. You do not have access to Lanks during this fight, but you can choose between Rodriguez and Reginald (if you recruited him), who both have AoE healing moves in the form of Do Something! and Jolly Jig, respectively (or can spam jerky pizzas, which you should have a few of.)
- If you are under-leveled for the fight and do not have access to 1800 No Scope or Armageddon, you can use 720 No Scope and Brutal Meteor instead. With a little bit of luck and the drunk status, you should get enough crits to be on-par with the damage that 1800 No Scope and Armageddon would do. Rodriguez's Get Him! and Do Something! will help massively to boost your damage as well.
- The most deadly opponent in this fight is Richie, as he can easily stun your teammates using stumble, leaving them vulnerable to Ludd and Richie's brutal attacks. Focus all your attacks on Richie and try to take him out soon after (or even before, if you're lucky with your crits) the 3 take the joy.
- After Richie has gone down, focus on Ludd, as his signature move (The Ludd Blaster) hits the same target 4 times and can end up taking your teammates down quick. He should go down in no time, as he has the lowest health of the 3.
- While he is the least threatening, Biggie is no joke, as his Big Slice hits all teammates and can ravage your team if you do not keep your health up. Ideally, you'll want to neutralize Biggie using the stun and fallen statuses as you deal with Richie and Ludd. Cyclops' Armageddon is a relatively good move for this. If this is not a possibility, make sure to use healing when necessary.
